If a field is only ever going to have 1 value in your system, then you can set the one
value in the global fields section under Global Settings in the
IMG. Note: the System parameter "dynpro/global_fields" must be set to
"Yes" for changes to be effective in global fields. In the profile concerned,
set this system parameter to "YES" in the Computing Center Management System
(transaction RZ10).
Also in the Global Settings in the IMG, you can
create transaction variants that will always have a certain default. Typically you would
combine this with special menus for the users who are to use these 'defaulted'
transactions. Do not confuse this with changing the default values for the standard
transactions (eg: document types, posting keys or line layouts), in the IMG under Default
Values for Document Processing or Select standard line layout
for document change/display.
Following are a variety of ways that you can tailor the SAP system for
yourself (ie personal settings only) to make your SAP enquiries and/or data
entry a bit easier and faster or more efficient.
| Type of Setting |
Instructions |
| Default
Decimal, Date and Printer format |
Follow menu System /
User Profile / User Defaults to specify. |
| Personal
Defaults for data entry fields |
Click on the field help for the
field and then technical info. If the field has a 'PID' (parameter
id) then you can default it. For example company code is 'BUK'. Go
to System / User Profile / User Parameters to
specify the 'PID' and the value that you would like it to have. |
| Remove
document fields you personally do not need when entering journals
(for example: special GL, inter company, foreign currency etc. |
Follow menu Accounting
/ Financial Accounting / General Ledger / Environment / User Parameters
/ Editing Options, and set the options appropriately.
This will remove those fields from the screens for your userid only. |
| Personal
Defaults for FI Line Layouts: |
If you need a different line
layout than the one that the project team has setup as the standard for
fast entry or document overview or line item display etc, this can also
be set in the 'Editing options' above. Here you can
specify the screen templates and line layout variants that you would
like to have personally.
These are actually Parameter Id's. Once you have tailored
some layout selections, you will see that they have appeared as
parameter ids in your User Parameters list.
Some PID's for layouts are:
- FZ2 - fast entry (try SAP01, or SAP02 for two lines to test)
- FBZ - document overview

| Message
Line or dialog box - Changing the way your information, warning and
error messages appear |
Often when learning, people do
not somehow always notice the message at the bottom of the SAP window.
Sometimes they simply need to maximise their SAP window so that it is
fully visible, however some people need the info, warning and error
messages brought to their attention with a little more forcefulness.
Click on the three coloured circles at the far RHS of your function
pushbutton toolbar. Here you can set whether you would prefer a
dialog box for your errors. The dialog box does however soon
become annoying as you have to acknowledge every message. |
