Procedure for creating Plants (rough)

Methods of defining sites (plants)

Transaction: EC02 Copy Plant (from one plant to another) – click on the copy icon

Transaction EC02

  • Will copy the following useful bits (amongst others)

    • Country key    

    • State / region key

  • Does not copy

    • Address (this is good! See separate discussions about issues with address maintenance and transporting)

Then to update / correct  the copied details:

Transaction: OX10 Define Plant

Notes

 

You will receive a warning message when you try to create plants.   See the note on transporting addresses.  If your setup has been verified and rectified, it should be quite safe to answer the questions as indicated and continue with the definition and subsequent transport.

 

 

 

 

 

Assigning Plants

If using OX10 to define the plant, without doing a copy, then you must also link the plant to the necessary organisation structures, using the following configuration  transactions:

Transaction OX18 Assign Plant to Company code

Transaction OVX6 Assign Plant to Sales Organsisation and Distribution Channel

Transaction OX17 Assign Plant to Purchasing Organisation

Cost Centre Maintenance:

Transaction: KS07 – Mass Fast entry of minimal cost centre data

   

Transaction: KS12 – Mass Cost Centre Update

Using special selection variants and different display variants (from 1 line to 4 lines), one can easily do mass updates of cost centers

Configuration Support

One can also configure the fields that you want to see on the list variant (eg: if we need to easily update person responsible and department

To record a site controller/owner or not (eg vendor)

Transaction SVMC (or if problems with that) use transaction SM31, enter table name, click on view maintenance, select view V_T001W_LI

You can select the whole range of plants and then scroll with the black arrow icons to maintain each plant.
